WF 2010 - Revoltechs and Kotobukiya

WF 2010 - Revoltechs and Kotobukiya

'Sup, Shelfers! It's nice to be back here (I was away for a few days, without internet access). But enough personal crap, let's get to the meat of this post!

While we've already seen the offerings from most of the major figure manufacturers at WF, Kaiyodo's been notably absent from most of these lists. I can honestly see why, given that their booth this year was rather underwhelming. Regardless, it's still worth a look.

First off, we have a Fraulein of Kamen Rider Mari. Given what's been happening with the Eva girls, it's now pretty inevitable that Max Factory will make one with an entry plug and henshin belt.

To go with Mari, we have a Rei, but not the Rei you're expecting. This is the Rei from Fist of the North Star, a decidedly manlier Rei than the Evangelion one. This is one of two Revoltechs (the other being a new Kenshiro, that wasn't shown) being released to promote the new FotNS PS3 game.

Another game tie-in Revoltech (or two) would be these two Revoltechs of Tokugawa Ieyasu and Ishida Mitsunari from Sengoku Basara 3. These figures will be on store shelves in August, to tie in with the game's Japanese release.

And now for something completely different. Getter Ark will be Yamaguchi Revoltech 99.No word on what number 100 will be - GaoGaiGar? Gunbuster? Astro Boy? Donald Duck? I guess we'll find out at Chara Hobby or Comiket.

Even though there haven't been many new announcements at Kaiyodo's booth this year, it's nice to see that Lupin III and Daisuke Jigen are looking a LOT better than the old prototype photos.

The only Sci-Fi Revoltech announcement was a variant Alien, specifically, the Alien Warrior from Aliens. Really, Kaiyodo? If you're gonna do another Aliens Revoltech, why not the power loader? At least that would be in scale with the Queen (who wasn't shown, oddly enough)...

Overall, slightly disappointing. Only one new announcement, and three variants. No Alien Queen, no Jason, no T-Rex, no Queen's Blade...

However, Kotobukiya's booth had quite a few awesome announcements.

First off, a pic of that Roll kit showed off in the last Hobby Japan. They also announced that they're doing Protoman, as well as a Hoihoi-san cosplaying as Saber (no prototypes of either, though).

Anyone remember Medabots? Well, they're doing a Metabee kit. Childhood memories coming back...

...But my personal favorite Kotobukiya announcement is this Gunbuster. About time somebody released an affordable Gunbuster.

This image actually came from SDCC, but it was too silly not to share - Kotobukiya is making light-up Evangelion chopsticks. And they plan on giving them an international release, too - $12USD a pair. I might have to grab a Mari pair, just because it's such a wonderfully silly idea. "Modo pasta, ura codo... ZA PESTO!"

So yeah. Anyone see anything notable among this (slightly disappointing) lineup?
