Ah, Bakemonogatari. One of the most polarizing anime of 2009. Regardless of whether you love it or hate it, though, Japan evidently loves it enough for it to be getting the Figma treatment. In addition to the soon-to-be-released Hitagi Senjougahara and Koyomi Araragi, the token loli of the series is joining the lineup - introducing Mayoi Hachikuji!
The backpack is actually a sentient parasite, controlling her.
The first thing that comes to mind with Mayoi is her massive pink-chicken-thing backpack, which has been lovingly rendered in PVC form. It includes stand holes both on the bottom and the back.
The pigment used to paint those snails comes from snails she's accidentally stepped on.
She also includes some fairly unsurprising accessories, like a smiling face and two umbrellas (one open, one closed). But unusually for a Figma, she also comes with another lower-body!
They haven't done this since Casual Saber, but Max Factory is including a second lower body so you can make Mayoi squat. It's neat, but I can't see an awful lot of uses for it - Spider-Man impressions? Pretending to be a pigeon?
"Be veeeeewy quiet. I'm hunting wowicons."
Mayoi also includes an angry face, perfect for creating wacky hijinks with Ararararagi.
"IT'S GOOFY TIME!"
Mayoi is planned for an August release, at 3200Y. Preorders open later tonight. Also, on the topic of Figmas, Michael Jackson, Hotori, and Rei all got delayed to May. KOS-MOS, Hitagi, and Kamen Riders Siren and Thrust will be coming out as scheduled. To make up for that news, have this neat animation from the Figma Blog.
