Figure News: Black*Rock Shooter RPG to include Figma *UPDATED*
24 ноя 2010 23:39:35

Pretty big update today, especially considering how much of a soft spot a lot of Shelf users have for Black*Rock Shooter. Remember how they showed a teaser for a B*RS JRPG a couple of months back? Well, a new trailer has come out.

Honestly, the game looks very... different from both the OVA and huke's artwork. To be honest, it really looks like some sort of "Gears of War - with special guest star, Black*Rock Shooter" to me. Maybe that's just the vibe I'm getting, but I'll leave it up to you guys to form your own opinions on the game.

Regardless, they also revealed some information about the game's release. First off, it's going to be exclusive to the PSP, and due for a Summer 2011 release. Second, huke IS still on board for the project, having designed the new appearance of B*RS, as well as this new character.

Busou*Rock Shinki and goth-loli Yuki Nagato!?

*UPDATE* Developer Imageepoch announced that, while it's not 100% set in stone yet, they're working with Nippon Ichi Systems America (international publishers of the Disgaea series, among other JRPGs) to establish a deal allowing NISA to localize and internationally release all of the studio's future releases. If this deal goes through, then it's pretty likely that this game will receive an English translation and a North American release. Not confirmed, however, is whether their past releases (Fate/extra, among others) apply to the NISA deal.

The last tidbit is that the game is going to be released in two editions. The standard version of the game will sell for the usual MSRP of around 6,000Y. However, for around 9,000Y, you'll be able to get the special edition, which includes a Figma of "Black*Rock Shooter (White ver.)." No word on what exactly this is, although I'm imagining it'll be something like the Figma equivalent of this custom Nendoroid.

But I know many people don't like game-bundle Figmas, simply due to how brutal they are on the wallet. Well, a user of /toy/ has discovered an interesting phenomenon concerning the upcoming, also-game-exclusive Figma Misaka Mikoto.

Yes, this is three of the Misaka Figma, not out 'til January. Yet they're now popping up on eBay, as well as a number of Chinese online sellers (you need a proxy, but the prices are low enough that they come out to around normal Figma price). Despite what you'd think, it turns out that these are genuine Figmas, being sold months ahead of release, without their packaging or included PSP game, for half the price. How is this happening? Nobody really knows, although the common theory is that they "fell off the truck," so to speak, or that some of the factory workers made an extra batch on their own time for resale. It's been happening with other Figmas, including Nodoka, King Kazma, and Saber Lily. Of course, the fact that these were probably stolen by production line workers for resale raises a whole new crop of questions, but I'm a reporter, not a philosopher, so I'll once again leave you to form your own opinions on this somewhat dubious trend.
