Синопсис:
Астро (Astro) – мальчик-робот, обладающий сверхспособностями и искусственным интеллектом, в отличие от других машин. Его создатель, доктор Тенма (dr. Tenma) пытался найти замену своему погибшему сыну Товио (Tovio). Однако завершив работу, Тенма уничтожает лабораторию и отключает Астро. Вскоре после этого глава Министерства науки (Ministry of Science) оживляет Астро. Он хочет, чтобы мальчик жил обычной человеческой жизнью, ходил в школу и помогал полиции останавливать вышедших из под контроля роботов и преступников. Переживая каждодневные нападки из-за того, что он не человек, Астро не сдается, ведь он должен выяснить правду о своем творце, докторе Тенме.
