Bakemonogatari: Nendoroid Petite Set #1

Bakemonogatari: Nendoroid Petite Set #1
09 мая 2010 14:01:07

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've done a non-Saimoe post. But it's also been a while since I've gotten any new figures. Real Image Yoko was the last new figure I got, until just last week.

But before I get into that, a quick personal update: One of the reasons I haven't been able to buy many new figures lately is because I was living off of unemployment. And now, one of the reasons I haven't been very active on Shelf lately is because I now have a new job!! Yay! I'm now working with my old Air Force finance office which I was with before I separated from the military. It's pretty nice to work somewhere that you're already familiar with. The other thing that's been taking up my time lately is that I have a new girlfriend who I've been spending a lot of time with. She makes me very happy. But right now she's asleep on my bed and it's Sunday so it's a great time to finally get this post out!

So yes, as the title says, this post is about the first set of those super cute Nendoroid Petite figures for the wonderful anime series Bakemonogatari! A few days ago I received a package and was very happy to open it up to find this:

Yay! So I like the box, but sadly I don't save such things. It will be thrown away. And look at what's on my computer screen! It's the old Shelf look! And if you look closely, you can see Michelle Vega Word files at the bottom of the screen. And my Zetsubou Sensei cell phone strap makes an appearance. XD

Anyway, silly picture search aside, lets open up the box:

It's really surprising how many alternate pieces these little figures come with. They all have at least five exchangeable parts or accessories. Going down the line....

Araragi has two alternate ahoge: the alert, straight up hair, and the question mark shape. He then has an alternate hand holding his school bag, two finger-pointing arms, and a deep bent elbow arm mainly used to pose him holding his bag over his shoulder.

Senjougahara, of course, has her school supplies. She has a total of three alternate hands: Pink stapler, light blue stapler, and yellow utility knife. She also has two alternate arms. One with a bent elbow for a hand-on-the-hip pose and one arm that points straight out for holding one of her dangerous items. ^_^

And finally we have Hanekawa who has the most elaborate accessories. She comes with an alternate front hair piece which includes her cat ears, little white and black cats, a tail, two alternate arms, and an alternate skirt (one of them is lifted up in the back so the tail can fit correctly).

This actually brings me to the only major problems I had with this set of figures. First, Hanekawa's glasses on her alternate, eared hair piece came loose rather easily when I tried switching it out the first time. I actually ended up having to use super glue to get the glasses to stay in their correct place again. So to anyone getting this set, be careful with the glasses. Also, when changing hands with Senjougahara, her blue stapler came out of her hand. That isn't supposed to happen. Again, a quick fix with a dab of super glue. So be careful with those hands as well. When changing them, grab at the hand, not the item.

But one of the most pleasant surprises about this set also had to do with Senjougahara. I have a bit of a habit of checking out figures' panties and I was very amused by hers:

Not sure if you can tell very easily, but Senjougahara's panties have her school supply pattern printed on them! I thought that was a very nice touch which I didn't really expect for such a small figure.

Now sadly I originally meant to have a lot more pictures in this post. I took over 30 picture that I was planning on using, switching out all of the different parts the figures came with, but I took the pictures with my crappy old digital camera and they came out looking like crap. Sorry. Maybe some day I'll take better pictures when I have a better camera. Now that I have a job again I should be able to do that soon! ^_^

Anyway, after I took all those picture and realized they didn't come out well at all, I tried taking at least one more picture of the group as I have them displayed on my shelf. This is the best picture I could get:

And yes, I ended up buying the Japanese release of the Bakemonogatari novels as you can see behind the figures. I still really hope that someone decides to release them in the US as the fan translation is going rather slowly.

So that's pretty much it. A very nice set of little figures well worth the $35.60 I spent to get them. I'm looking forward to getting Set 2, hopefully sometime next month. ^_^
