Спойлер о том, как Брук стал живым скелетом
До своей смерти Брук был музыкантом в команде Пиратов Румбы, где был целый пиратский ансамбль. Полные надежд они вошли в Гранд Лайн, случайно прихватив прибившегося к ним детёныша Островного кита (назван так из-за того, что взрослая особь данного вида становится величиной с целый остров) — Лабуна. Пообещав Лабуну, что они вскоре пройдут через Гранд Лайн и спустятся с другой стороны горы, они оставили кита у ворот опасного океана. Однако их планам не суждено было случиться Спойлер о том, что делал Брук до встречи с командой Луффи Присоединившись к команде Луффи, Брук собирается обогнуть Гранд Лайн и, как и обещал, спуститься к Лабуну с другой стороны горы Реверс Маунтин.
Брук — отличный музыкант, он может играть практически на любом инструменте, однако чаще всего его можно видеть со скрипкой, или за клавишами рояля. Любимая его песня — «Сакэ Бинкса», её часто пели Пираты Румбы, и она очень нравилась их капитану и Лабуну. Брук везет с собой записанное на Звуковую Ракушку (произведённая на Скайпии, Небесном Острове, она записывает и воспроизводит звук как диктофон), купленную Бруком на торговом судне, последнее исполнение этой песни Пиратами Румбы Спойлер, чтобы проиграть её Лабуну. Спойлер о том, что случилось с Бруком по прошествии 2-ух лет
Кроме того, Брук — отличный фехтовальщик, в его трости находится клинок, которым он умело орудует, используя свой собственный стиль «отсроченных» ударов. Есть у него способности и уникальные для скелета — так например, молоко полностью исцеляет его и залечивает переломы, по его словам, «благодаря кальцию», а также он может высоко прыгать и бежать прямо по воде, так как не отягощен плотью. Кроме того, Брук использует свои музыкальные способности и в бою: он может усыпить врагов игрой на скрипке.
