Ai is the main character in Dōbutsu no Mori. She has high pigtails of a bold red color, and large, anime-styled eyes that have small black eyelashes. Ai wears a flowery dress with blue and white stockings, and her red shoes have a heart-shaped design. She is seen in different clothing during her visit to the Able Sisters' shop, like a swimsuit and even a kimono designed by Margie. She appears to represent the player from the Animal Crossing series.

Ai is shown to be an enthusiastic and independent young girl. When she moves to Animal Village, she is hired by Tom Nook. Tom Nook quickly puts her to work by asking her to run errands for him. During the course of running Tom Nook's errands, Ai becomes friends with many villagers, such as Whitney, Rosie, and Margie. She also encounters and befriends a young human boy named Yu. Ai also was scared of Apollo.
