There are a lot of figures out there. There are many different figures of many different characters. Some characters like Rei and Asuka from Evangelion, the Ikki Tousen girls, and the three main girls from the Haruhi series all seem to have literally hundreds of figures made of them. Then sometimes a figure of a really random character might surface that really catches you off guard and surprise you. But other characters just seem to never get their cut of the figure pie. A little while before I joined the site Vallefor made a blog post asking what your “wished figures” were. Well, I had a lot of time on my hands during the holidays so I made this list of my personal top 20 figures I wish would get made. Some of these characters might have figures already, but they’re either not quite what I’d want or they’re extremely obscure and near impossible to find (or I just never knew about the release). I’ll have a picture, a “brief” explanation as to why I want them, and information links (mostly from ) for each character and their series, and maybe a few other links. So without further ado, time to get on with the list!
20. () - Like I said in the intro, Rei and Asuka have literally hundreds of figures. But what about the guys of Evangelion? Shinji and Kaoru have at least one good figure that I know of (together) so that’s at least something. But what about Gendo? The man, the myth, the . I don’t know about everyone else, but I for one would love to have a good 1/8 PVC figure of Gendo. With the new Evangelion remake movies currently being released, who knows, maybe it could happen?
19. or Tomoe or just about any girl (/ series) - Yep, second entry and I’m already asking for a hentai figure. Well, there’s only one more on the list so I guess that’s okay, right? Anyway, the girls in this series look very nice. Personally I prefer how they look in --- much more than the original manga so I’d like the design to be based off of that. Just about any of the girls from the series would be awesome, but preferably one that isn’t too psycho.
18. () - A very cute though somewhat damaged girl. Not much else to say about her.
17. () - Outlaw Star was my first real favorite anime when I was first getting into anime and was the first anime I ever bought on DVD. Male characters in general don’t seem to get enough figures. There’s probably next to no chance of this ever being made.
16. and () - Okay, so I’m cheating a little here. Two characters in one entry! But anyone who has seen Baccano can tell you that the duo of Isaac and Miria is one of the best in all the world of anime and separating them would be a crime! Sadly, I don’t think there have been any Baccano figures made. The chances of this coming out is next to zero, probably.
15. () - Sorry, a little bit of a spoiler here. Kei is a boy and one of my favorite crossdressers ever! I’d love to have him on my shelf.
14. Ashley Riot () - The only non-anime figure wish on my list and yet another male figure that will almost certainly never be made. Vagrant Story is my official favorite video game and Ashley Riot is an awesome one-man army of awesome. I don’t really know how his crazy hair would work for a figure, though. I actually like how he looks in the ending more than this normal character design. He has a really cool long coat.
13. () - Beatrice is awesome. I’m kind of torn between having a figure of her in her standard elegant gown or her in the miniskirt and stripped thigh highs. Such a hard choice. Good news is that she might actually have a chance of being made! Umineko is a very popular series so I’ll be hoping!
12. () - One of my favorite male manga characters and again probably a figure that will never be made. But who knows, the new 14 Days manga is currently being release so I guess there is a slight sliver of hope, maybe.
11. () - Ahhh, what a troubled character we have here. Lucy is pretty damn evil through most of Elfen Lied, but a lot of times you can’t help but feel sorry for her. Well, it’s been years since the anime and manga finished so this is probably another wish that will go unanswered.
10. () - My other hentai figure dream. Fujino is one of my favorite hentai characters. She’s just so damn adorable. And with the second anime adaptation released just a little over a year ago, maybe she has a chance to be a figure? Oh, and for the record, I don’t necessarily want a Christmas figure of her. That was just the most presentable color picture of her I could find in the manga series.
9. () - I really like Satoshi Kon. Millennium Actress and Paprika are two of my all time favorite anime feature films. I also thoroughly enjoyed Paranoia Agent. I think Paprika is the perfect character to represent my love for Satoshi Kon and is the character who I think has be greatest potential as a figure. And actually, there was a figure of her made back in 2006, but it’s just about impossible to find for sale anymore. Probably not a very good chance of another being made.
8. () - Yes, there are quite a few figures of Kyon’s Sister, but none of them that I’ve come across are really what I’m looking for. And no, I’m not looking for a figure of her in Kyon’s duffle bag, I just like that scene. I just want a good 1/8 PVC figure of her in her normal outfit (preferably made by Max Factory to match my other Haruhi girls). Hopefully with the movie coming out I might actually have a good chance with this one. Also, the picture I used for her is half as tall as all of the other pictures, just as she’s probably about half as tall as all the other characters.
7. () - Sawako was hands down my favorite character during the Fall 2009 anime season and Kimi ni Todoke is potentially the best shoujo series I’ve ever seen. Sawako is just so adorable and weird and awesomely straightforward and innocent and stuff. I don’t know what the chances of her getting a figure are. I don’t see many figures from shoujo series so it might not be a very high chance, but just like everything else on this list, I’ll still hope.
6. () - Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is my number 1 favorite manga. It is just so beautiful and simple and Alpha is a great character. I was so happy that I was brought to tears when I found out that the manga was getting a re-release in Japan. By the time I discovered the series the original release was out of print and I couldn’t find the whole series for sale anywhere. I should be getting my copies of the first four volumes of the re-release soon. Maybe the re-release could give some chances to an Alpha figure?
5. () - Senjougahara is awesome. We have the Petite Nendoroid of her coming out, but she really deserves a good 1/8 PVC figure. The DVD’s and Blu-rays of Bakemonogatari are selling like crazy in Japan so I see no reason for this not to get made.
4. () - Rin is an extraordinarily sexy character and Mnemosyne is an extraordinarily sexy and violent anime. I’d think she’d be perfect for a figure, but I guess I’ll just be left hoping for now.
3. (/) - Another very sexy character. It’s sad that the closest I could get to a figure of her so far is a little chess piece.
2. () - At one point in time Kanzaki was my favorite female anime/manga character. She’s a very disturbed 14 year old genius. I’d still love to have a figure of her. Again, maybe with the new manga currently being released, there might be an ever so slight chance of this happening.
1. () - And finally my number one spot goes to my favorite Zetsubou girl. I think this cute little hikikomori would just be wonderful to have as a figure, though I would be really picky about the design. I thought the figure set of Chiri and Kafuka could have been much better. With that said, I think there might be a good chance for this figure being made, but the question is if it would be made the way I want it to be. Who knows?
So that’s my list! I like making lists. Sorry if I was a little longwinded. I tend to babble a bit when I typing. I tried to control it as much as I could.
