Figure News: Four Fabulous Figmas and a New Nendoroid

Figure News: Four Fabulous Figmas and a New Nendoroid
18 дек 2010 00:35:02

Good Smile Company and Max Factory have certainly been productive this past 48 hours. Not only have they unveiled three new Nendoroids, a Figma, and a scale PVC, but they also opened preorders for a new Nendoroid and four new Figmas, two of which are complete surprises. Anyway, let's cover the Nendoroid first!

Nendoroid Kyon (Disappearance ver.)

"Yare yare, da ze..."

Despite the Haruhi Suzumiya franchise being one of the ones that helped kick-start the Nendoroid line, its main character never actually got a Nendoroid. Well, GSC is fixing this by giving Kyon a Nendoroid of his very own! Based on the recent Disappearance movie, Kyon includes a number of accessories from the movie, such as his scarf, the two bookmarks, and the pistol from the climax. In Kyon tradition, he also includes parts for the trademark facepalm. Kyon is shipping in April, along with the next Figma on the list.

Figma Hotori Arashiyama

Fuuka Ayase!? What are you doing in a maid outfit?"

The recently-unveiled Figma of Hotori Arashiyama also went up for preorder. There isn't really much that hasn't been said in the linked article, so go check it out. Anyway, now we're moving on to the really neat stuff!

Figma Kamen Rider Thrust

"I assure you, this is a horn, not my nose."

Continuing Max Factory's series of Figmas from Kamen Rider Ryuki Dragon Knight is a Figma of Kamen Rider Gai Thrust! The rhino-themed Rider includes a decent assortment of accessories, such as the usual hands, some Advent Cards, and his Strike Vent that's supposed to be rhino-based but looks more like a narwhal. Let me repeat that for you. He has a narwhal-gauntlet. If that's not awesome, I don't know what is.

Figma Kamen Rider Siren

What happens when Max Factory and Bandai have a baby.

While Kamen Riders (and tokusatsu in general) are a new venture for the Figma line, Max Factory must feel somewhat at home with Kamen Rider Femme Siren. Known for being the first female Kamen Rider, MF can use their female-sculpting experience to make this sculpt look great. Siren also includes a fair few accessories, such as her swan-themed rapier and a halberd. Both Siren and Thrust ship in March. Max Factory also posted a teaser for the future of the line.

With this poster, MF has confirmed that they do intend to produce Figmas of all thirteen of Ryuki Dragon Knight's Kamen Riders. However, one can't help but wonder what they'll do once they get through them all. The line's been selling like hotcakes thus far (the first two releases have sold out everywhere, and the second wave is low on stock), so MF will probably want to maintain this new source of profits. Perhaps they'll make the Dragon-Knight-only characters Eubulon and General Xaviax? Or maybe they'll go after the license for Saban's Masked Rider, allowing them to produce Kamen Rider Black RX Figmas. And there's the possibility they'll try and obtain one of the Super Sentai/Power Rangers series. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. But before that, here's the most unexpected pre-order of the four! I present to you...

Figma Michael Jackson (Thriller ver.)

"'Cause this is thriller, thriller night..."

Waaaaay back in February, Max Factory showed off a Figma of the King of Pop himself. After that, though, we heard nothing of it, to the point where people began to think it was cancelled. And just like that, Max Factory opened preorders for him without warning or announcement! Anyway, this Figma is based on the iconic music video for Thriller, and includes an alternate head to create the zombie-Michael. But what would Thriller be without that pose?

"And no one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike..."

Not only does Figma Michael Jackson include hands for the famous zombie pose from the video, he also includes two extra sets of hands! With one for male Figmas and one for females, you can have your favorite Haruhi/Nanoha/K-On/whatever-you-want characters join Michael as backup dancers! I can see a ton of amusing photos coming from this accessory choice. Anyway, the King of Pop ships in April.

So, have any of these new announcements caught people's fancy? I'm pretty pumped for Michael Jackson, myself. Anyway, feel free to sound off in the comments section!
