Figure News: Preorders open for GSC Rin, new Figmas
23 ноя 2010 00:23:36

Hey, 'Shelf. I know that there's been a lot of interest in Good Smile Company's 1/7 Fate series. However, it's consisted entirely of Sabers so far (normal, Lily, and Alter, to be precise). Well, GSC opened preorders for the first non-Saber in the line, Rin Tohsaka!

GSC Rin Tohsaka ~UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS~

We're looking at one of the founders of the tsundere movement right here, folks. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is open to debate.

Rin's been shown as a prototype at trade shows for about a year now, and recently got a face overhaul. Well, she's finally been confirmed for a May 2011 release, and they also revealed that the base won't be quite as plain as the prototype's - it's going to have swords embedded in the ground as a reference to the Unlimited Blade Works arc the figure is based on. Come to think of it, I wonder if Archer's going to finally get a PVC figure in this wonderful series. But then that makes me think that other Nasuverse figures would be nice in this series (Arcueid? Shiki?). Hell, maybe just a series of VN figures would be fun (maybe Umineko would finally get some PVC representation). But I should probably stop my tangent here, because there's new Figmas available!

Figma Kamen Rider Strike/Ouja

Snake? Snake!? SNAAAAAAAAAAKE!

Max Factory seems hellbent on one-upping Bandai in their own forte, because the stream of Figmas from Kamen Rider Ryuki Dragon Knight shows no signs of stopping. In fact, preorders just opened for two more, including Kamen Rider Ouja Strike! The morally-grey, cobra-motif Rider includes a fairly standard number of accessories for the Dragon Knight Figmas - Max Factory seems to be making up for the lack of faces by including a lot of weapons and Vent parts. Also joining Ouja is...

Figma Kamen Rider Sting/Raia

It just needs a base that plays wheezing sounds when you place the figure on it.

Kamen Rider Raia Sting is also getting the Figma treatment alongside Ouja. There's a similar number of accessories, but of interest is his Signum-style whip-sword, which appears to have tiny ball-joins joining each segment. Come to think of it, Ryuki Dragon Knight himself is shipping in a few days, so we'll be able to see just how Max Factory's Riders stand up to Bandai's. Speaking of Dragon Knight, it seems that Max Factory is very fond of showing him getting beaten up by other Riders - just look.

*sigh* Nobody likes Ryuki...

So, Shelfers. Are there any visual novel characters you'd like to see get the PVC treatment (*cough*Beato-dono*cough*)? How about your thoughts on Max Factory's new competition with Bandai? And remember: next time you're having a bad day, remind yourself that it could always be worse - you could be Kamen Rider Dragon Knight.
