Ширли — член студенческого совета, одноклассница Лелуша. Веселая, энергичная девушка. Без памяти влюблена в Лелуша. Ширли очень добрая и преданная. Из-за того, что Карен вызвала землетрясение с помощью "Алого Лотоса" в одной из серий, камнями накрыло район, в котором находился отец Ширли. Девушка, узнав о смерти отца, попыталась использовать эту трагедию, дабы завоевать сердце Лелуша, но случайно узнает, что тот и есть Зеро. Однако, даже после подобного откровения, она не смогла отказаться от своей любви и в приступе паники стреляет в Вилетту Ну, попытавшуюся схватить находившегося в бессознательном состоянии лидера Ордена Черных Рыцарей. Запутавшись в собственных чувствах, Ширли становится жертвой Мао, который пытается использовать её как приманку для Лелуша. Девушка хочет убить Зеро, а затем умереть самой, но промахнувшись, теряет сознание и падает прямо в руки Лелуша. Тот использует на Ширли Гиасс и заставляет забыть обо всем, что было между ними. По его собственным словам, он не хочет, чтобы девушка страдала.
Во втором сезоне, когда Император заменяет все воспоминания членов студсовета на фальшивые, Ширли повторно влюбляется в Лелуша, и у них даже что-то получается, благодаря вмешательству Милли Эшфорд. Однако, в тот же вечер ассасин "Культа Гиасса", Джеремия Готвальд, использует на Ширли Подавитель Гиасса, и к девушке возвращаются её воспоминания. Та прощает Лелуша за все, что он сделал. Она рассказала Ролло, что знает истинную личность Лелуша, и в разговоре случайно упомянула о Наналли, закономерно вызвав у лжебрата ревность.
