Saber Lily Vespa ride. Ex:ride.
28 фев 2010 17:03:15

It was a long time since I've made my last post here. Actually, these weeks I've been busy with work matters and writing MyAnimeShelf new FAQ^^
But now half of the FAQ work is done, new Russian FAQ is ready (I'll soon translate it), so I can take a break and make a niiice looong post^__^
Do you remember my first di:stage figma creation? I made one more! It is not so creative, no background and stuff, but I like it anyway^^

Your humble Usagi proudly presents - glorious and invincible Saber Lily on a Vespa vintage bike!

Yes-yes, pals, it is from ex:ride series of transportation devices for figmas, made by Freeing. Vintage bike is the first item of the series and I instantly fell in love with it.
Actually, I'm collecting ex:rides, all of them. The idea of increasing figmas playability by giving them wheels of all kinds just drove me crazy O_o. Vintage bicycles and street style set (incl. a skateboard, in-line skates and a kick scooter) are already on their way to me^^

I thought that pearl white bike would be perfect for our white-clad knight^^ Overall, I like this thing. Its tires are made of rubber; the handlebar is turning (and the fore wheel is turning with it).
Shot from the back.

But there are also flaws like silver paint stains on the handlebar (pic below). And overall paint job is not as perfect as I would like it to be. But the biggest flaw is yet to follow...>_<

As you can see, I made an "oriental" stage for this photo shoot, using an Indian statue of Ganesha my dad brought from one of his business trips.

Now Lily changes faces^^ Here you can see the scratch on my Saber Lily's eye I was really mad about when she arrived. That time I leaved the only negative feedback in history of my eBay purchases.

Now I'll tell you a little about the base. The bike itself has a small two-leg stand you'll see on actual Vespa bikes. But this stand is hard to keep in place, it's folding by itself. So I used a little trick to attach the bike to the di:stage base.
I took a di:stage effect clip, usually used to attach speech bubbles on a di:stage unit -

snapped off some half of it and showed it through the hole meant for the two-legged Vespa stand and then through the base's hole. Like this.

It fitted perfectly^^ Now the bike is safely attached to the di:stage unit.
Back to the pics. Side shot.

And now - the biggest flaw...>_< I don't really know if I could call that a flaw... but in the middle of the photo shoot the handlebar just broke. Damn!

What I tried to do at the time was attaching both hands of Saber Lily to the handlebar. That's all >_<
But the damage looks fixable (superglue forever!). Besides - did I mention it before? - I've got all 5 color variations of ex:ride Vintage bike. So I just changed white one to the pearl blue one and resumed the photo shoot.

I also put the sword away and used the smiling face from Saber casual clothes ver.

Like that^^

One more side shot.

Now some fun stuff about the base itself, particularly about this cute pavement skin. I made it from this:

A long time ago this sheets of cardboard used to be a "Moscow subway" calendar. It was given to me as a New Year present on my first work - which was a Department of Transport of Moscow^^
The mosaics you see on this pic are actually photos of Mayakovskaya station decorations.
Here is a pic of the station itself

Mosaics can be found in those round windows on the ceiling. They all are different. My favorite one looks like this

I used the calendar as intended, but when the year was over I decided to keep the artworks. Without any purpose, just in case. And, after several years I found a way to use them^__^ Now I can make as many pavement skins for di:stage, as I wish^__^

Again, back to the pics. I like this shot - here it looks like Lily is actually riding (through ancient deserted Indian town I suppose^_^)

And the last one. Lily wishes you luck on the road!
