figma Hatsune Miku 2.0

figma Hatsune Miku 2.0
05 дек 2013 16:52:48

Pfft, I was planning on posting this last week, but I was so busy with school.
Now I'm on vacation already, but I've just been so lazy.....
The pictures are still bad, and I apologize for that. I really need to get a descent lamp with a white light, or something...

Anyway, let's get this party started! Introducing figma Hatsune Miku 2.0!
I pre-ordered her straight from GSC, so as a bonus I got the checkered di-stage.
I won't really be commenting on the box, other than saying that it's the most hideous and dull box that I have seen yet. If you want to see all the sides, simply click here.

Despite being a figma, Miku comes with a fair amount of accessories; two extra (extremely cute) faceplates, a guitar, a microphone and microphone stand, the typical figma stand, wings and TONS of hands, Six sets of extra hands to be accurate (including a special set of hands for when she sits, and a special set with one hand to hold the guitar and the other holding a blue guitar pick). There is one flaw though, and that is that there is only one set of joints for the entire five sets (while the sitting hand set don't need joints, because they have plugs), and for people with awkward, big or flexible fingers it can be quite frustrating to change the joints between hands all the time and especially when it's cold, not to mention that they don't always stick perfectly into place. It also would've been nice to have at least one spare joint, in case you lose one.
The quality of the accessories is splendid. The wings look wonderfully transparent in their... transparency... and the guitar has a wonderful paintjob.
Strangely, the sides can be taken off the di-stage for some reason... just throwing that out there.

The wings are attached by a little extra piece which you can then stick to the stand, and into the back of Miku. That way, you can also stick them to her without the stand, though it doesn't really look great from the back because of that extra plug.

Now, Miku herself is pretty splendid as well, and there are many eyecatching details to look for, all the way from her sleeves and up to where her hair is tied and all the way down.... below the skirt. I'm not kidding, it's actually way to detailed for my taste. For an action figure at least.
Her pantsu don't have a blue little bow like her Nendoroid counterpart though...
Overall the paintjob looks nice, but my copy seems to have a slight manufacturing problem.

The joint on her ...right.. or left shoulder.. the one with the number, sticks out much more than her other shoulder, like it's completely misplaced. It's quite a shame, since it's a pretty obvious location, but oh well.
I'm also not a big fan of her torso and shoulders in general. It looks a bit awkward, and I wish that they had gone with another sculpt completely for that area.
As most of you should know already, with the release of this special 300th figma, Max Factory revamped their articulation system almost completely. The middle part of Miku's back is now 'loose' from the rest of her shirt so she can lean backwards, though this takes a little while to master, since because it's 'loose' it sometimes looks like she has a hunched back when she's standing, which is simply fixed by making her upright.

Miku herself is made from matte plastic (as well as her hair, though it's transparent at the ends) and her sleeves and shoes are made from shiny plastic. It adds a nice twist though, that the her shirt below the torso, tie and skirt are made from soft plastic which can be moved around by will, which really adds to both the overall feel and movement of the figure itself. This helps with letting the figure sit, lean back or turn her torso to the side (it's possible to 360° actually..).

Comparing her with figma Hatsune Miku Append, you can see that the height difference is quite obvious. She's the only figma that I have, so this comparison is the only one I can give. I find it really weird that Miku 2.0 is pretty much half a faceplate taller than Miku Append, I mean isn't that quite a lot?

With the new joint system, Miku can be posed in various different ways, and I can't wait to experiment with her and find cool new poses!
There is one thing that I'm not really keen about, and it's that Max Factory really seemed to want to make her be able to sit. They even made a special set of hands for her, that don't really do her much justice. It can be seen from miles away how awkward she looks in this pose, and how her hair really gets in the way, though it's a fun option. Personally, I'd rather use other hands than this set.

Overall, the advantages clearly overshadow the few flaws that this figure has. Her torso and shoulder area looks a bit weird, the new articulation system takes some time to get used to and the choice to include only one set of joints for the hands is quite poor. The quality of Miku and her accessories is absolutely stunning though, and she looks amazing for an action figure. She has so many nice details, and a really charming presence.
If you're a fan of Miku or figmas or both... or neither too, I recommend buying her. Her almost limitless posing options and sweet and cheerful presence will make you fall in love with her instantly, despite your preferences.

It's a lot bigger though! :)
Yes, I wish there was a way to stick the wings to figures that don't have their hole in the back. Blu-tac might work, but it'll get messy with time...

Nice Review! This Miku is a really nice figure.

I'm not really sure whats going on with this new box. The black part looks almost like a paper band rapped around it. I hope they don't stay with this style.

The sides come off of di stage, because if you buy a full set they come with parts to attach multiple together.

Yeah, the box also feels really cheep when you hold it, like it could easily tear apart.

Ahh, that's clever. I had no idea!

You can do some really interesting things if you have enough of them.

I'm not really a Miku fan but the quality and her accessories are great, the base is also neat. It seems that wings can be used with other figmas too? They'd look so good on append.
Great pictures as always!

They work with any figma (and possibly any figure with a hole on it's back) but might not fit properly due to the figures design.

I agree, I was so stoked when I saw the wings. Miku Append is a little different from most figma's though, as she doesn't have the hole in the back for the stand, which the wings are an extension of.

I managed to stick them to her back with Platstik though (similar to Blu-tac, and is incidentally what I use to stick one of those things on her hip because she came to me broken), though that's only temporary and can fall off, and it's bothersome to clean the blue mess out of the hole in the middle.

Might do it for some photos though, since she really does look good with the wings. :D

I already forgot how her stand works. Even if it's temporary it still works for pictures, hope to see some since I just can't imagine a figma more suitable for this *^*

I agree, Miku 2.0 seems overall more polished and lively :)
