Figure News: WF Interview reveals new Sci-Fi Revoltechs, Figmas
10 фев 2011 00:52:48

Well, I'd like to draw the attention of MAS to a very interesting interview courtesy of toy site It'sAllTrue.net. Shortly before Wonder Festival, they asked readers to supply questions for them to ask to Kaiyodo, Max Factory, and Medicos representatives. They also plan on speaking to Bandai representatives come Tamashii Festival. Anyway, this interview reveals things both good and bad - if you don't want to read the article, I'll summarize them below.

Medicos:

-They'd like to be able to release more than one JoJo S.A.S. per month, but production costs prevent that from being a possibility.

Max Factory:

-The Big Duo and Big Fau shown at WonFes are actually highly-detailed vinyl figures, designed to be in scale with the Max Gokin Big O. Big Duo's due out in May, and Big Fau in June.
-There are going to be more Figmas from The Big O. They can't say which characters are getting the treatment at this point, but they've confirmed that Dorothy is not going to be alone.
-Max Factory doesn't currently have the rights to Sailor Moon. Bandai owns the rights to the franchise, so the only possibility is S.H. Figuarts at this point.

Kaiyodo:

-Kaiyodo has no plans to actively market the Assemble Borg line in America or in large stores, but they're willing to supply them to interested wholesalers.
-The Sci-Fi Revoltech T-Rex is ready for production, but they're still in the process of negotiating with Universal about the Jurassic Park rights.
-Kaiyodo really wants to bring Godzilla into the Sci-Fi Revoltech line, but Bandai currently owns the merchandising rights to the character (alongside King Ghidorah and MechaGodzilla), and they show no sign of letting Kaiyodo use the license.
-The plans for a Revoltech Jet Jaguar had to be cancelled.
-Kaiyodo is considering making a Sci-Fi Revoltech of Mothra's larval form, but it's not quite confirmed yet.
-Retools of the Skeleton Army Revoltech (into the skeletons from other Ray Harryhausen films) with different bases and accessories are "very, very plausible."
-There will be more Sci-Fi Revoltechs from Ray Harryhausen's films, although they don't want to disclose which creatures just yet.

Overall, I'm both disappointed and hyped. On one hand, hearing about the Godzilla licensing situation really does suck. But on the other, there's more Big O Figmas, and more Harryhausen Revoltechs! I've always had an incredible love of Harryhausen's work, and hearing about more of his creations getting figures further cements Sci-Fi Revoltech as one of my favorite lines in a long, long time. Anyway, how do you feel about these developments? Sound off below!
